Prof Pramod Wangikar
Prof. Pramod P. Wangikar is the Institute Chair Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay. He has been actively engaged in research for over 25 years in metabolomics, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, bioprocess technology, and system-level modeling of metabolism, with over 130 publications to his credit. He has also completed more than 15 government-funded research projects as well as over 10 industry or privately sponsored projects. He has been serving as the coordinator of the DBT virtual Pan-IIT centre for Bioenergy since 2014, and was the Professor-in-charge of the Wadhwani Research Centre for Bioengineering (WRCB) at IIT-B from 2014-22. He co-founded Clarity Bio Systems, a metabolomics and AI-based startup in 2020.
Prof. Wangikar completed his Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT, Mumbai), and then earned his PhD from the University of Iowa, USA in 1995. He joined IIT Bombay as faculty in 1999, and has been Professor since 2009.
